Business Plan Analysis

The agribusiness entrepreneurship minor includes two capstone courses, AGEC 424 Agribusiness Entrepreneurship – Economic Analysis and AGEC 425 Agribusiness Entrepreneurship – Financial Analysis. In these courses, I wrote a comprehensive business plan for a business of my choosing - a bookstore. The program is led by Dr. Rister, professor and associate department head for agricultural economics.

I reached out to working professionals and bookstore owners to gain an accurate understanding of the numbers required to develop the base enterprise budget. From there, I analyzed the economic feasibility of my proposed business.

In the spring semester, I evaluated the financial feasibility of my business in a seven-year analysis. I used an Excel program called FinYear to help develop the financial statements based on different parameters for each year.

The courses culminated in the two-day Corrigan-Goddard Foundation Entrepreneurial Dreams Symposium in May 2018. I created a poster to use when I presented my business pitch to mentors, parents, my professor, and other judges. If you are interested in learning more about my project or viewing the final business prospectus, please contact me!
