COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Downtown Christmas Parade will be lighting up downtown Bryan once again on Friday, Dec. 9.
This parade is the only Christmas parade in Bryan-College Station that incorporates lights onto its floats. Downtown Bryan Events Manager Amanda Reynolds said that the lights make this parade special.
“What’s neat about our parade is it’s an evening parade so all the floats have lights on them,” Reynolds said.
Reynolds said the parade is important for bringing together the community during the holidays.
“There are Christmas lights everywhere on the streets and all the stores decorate their windows for Christmas,” Reynolds said. “It really evokes the Christmas spirit.”
Entries in the parade include fire engines and a variety of floats and vehicles, all decked out in festive lights. Santa Claus will also make an appearance at the end of the parade.
Bridget Lange, a junior psychology major at Texas A&M University, said she looks forward to experiencing the parade for the first time.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday and I’m excited to see how they incorporate the history of downtown Bryan into the event and accommodate families and college students simultaneously,” Lange said. “I’m hoping it’ll make me feel at home.”
The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. at 24th and Bryan Street heading south. It will turn on 28th Street and come back up Main Street. Streets in downtown Bryan will close from 5:30 p.m. until the end of the parade.
